WWE SmackDown spoiler results from Glasgow, Scotland at OVO Hydro on Friday, June 14, 2024. This show will air taped delayed in America on Fox in its usual 8pm Eastern spot:
Cedric Alexander and Ashante Thee Adonis defeated Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince and Kit Wilson) in the dark match before SmackDown when Wilson was pinned after a double team finisher.
Corey Graves are Wade Barrett the broadcast team. Samantha Irvin is the ring announcer.
Naomi (with Bayley) pinned Chelsea Green (with Piper Niven) with a bridging pin counter in 8:33 as Green tried to go for the Unprettier. Green tried to use feet on the ropes to win but Bayley stopped it. Before the match, Green cut a promo telling the crowd they will see two “crushing” defeats this weekend as she will beat Naomi now and then Niven will win the WWE Women’s Title from Bayley tomorrow at WWE Clash at the Castle. She also said she and Niven want to become the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions soon.
Baron Corbin was talking Nick Aldis backstage. Legado Del Fantasma walked up and interrupted them. Aldis told Corbin he would take care of them and Corbin walked away. Aldis told them they were being fined for their attack on Apollo Crews last week. They laughed it off and acted like they could afford it. Santos Escobar said he heard Crews was now cleared. Aldis confirmed it and said he was ready to go tonight to set up a match.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair did a taped backstage promo talking about their 3-Way Titles Match defense tomorrow at WWE Clash at the Castle. They were cool and confident and vowed to walk out still the champions.
There was a Grayson Waller Effect segment up next with DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) as the guests. They were all arguing to set up Gargano and Ciampa wanting a WWE Tag Team Titles shot against Austin Theory and Grayson Waller tonight. Waller and Theory refused to do it “in a place like Glasgow, Scotland.” DIY said they are coming for the titles no matter what. Gargano then said he wanted to address Theory one on one. He said he and Theory go back a long way and he’s proud of Theory. But he warned Theory that Waller is just using him. Waller had enough and he gave Gargano a cheap shot. Both teams brawled with each other but Theory ended up taking the hits that were meant for Waller as Waller ran out of the ring to safety.
Backstage, The Street Profits and B-Fab walked up to Kevin Owens and told him they have his back his back tonight against Solo Sikoa.
Grayson Waller and Austin Theory were complaining backstage about getting beaten up. They briefly crossed paths with Naomi and Bayley who were in great moods after Naomi’s win tonight. The women ran into Blair Davenport who briefly taunted them and walked away. Naomi wanted to go after Davenport but Bayley stopped her. Bayley said she wanted to thank Naomi for having her back these last few months. Chelsea Green then approached them and said Bayley was going to lose the title tomorrow. Piper Niven came from out of nowhere and splashed Bayley and Naomi up against the wall. She did a calm but sinister promo about winning the belt tomorrow. It was hard to hear the backstage segments.
Santos Escobar (with Legado Del Fantasma) pinned Apollo Crews by illegally holding the tights after interference from Elektra Lopez in 8:57. Baron Corbin ran down in the middle of the match to try to stop Berto and Angel from getting involved down at ringside. The heels double teamed him before the finish and Lopez pushed Crews off the ropes to set up the finish.
New WWE Speed Champion Andrade, Cedric Alexander & Ashante Thee Adonis, and Pretty Deadly were shown on camera watching the show at ringside.
Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles in a “Face To Face” segment was up next. Rhodes said he thought Styles was really going to retire but now Styles looks like one of those guys who always wants one more shot and one more run. Styles came out backed up by Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. Rhodes told him to let Gallows and Anderson go so they can have the conversation man to man. Styles told them to go to the back so he didn’t look like a coward. The crowd was chanting for Cody all over the segment so it was hard to hear. Styles said it took him 17 years to climb the ladder to get to WWE but nobody wants to hear the truth. He said Cody was welcomed with open arms and made to be a star but he quit. Styles said Cody also quit New Japan and Ring of Honor. He said Cody also helped start a new company but quit that too. He said “when the going gets tough Cody gets going”. Cody said Styles was right. He did make big decisions in his career that meant walking away from places because he’s never been afraid to go after better things. He said he didn’t quit, he bet on himself in a gamble. AEW was never mentioned by name in this exchange but New Japan and Ring of Honor were. Cody said he did things right and honorable while Styles had to act like Mark Henry to get another title shot from him. Styles talked about retirement and said he will be done whenever he says he’s done. He said he will do whatever he has to do to make Cody say “I Quit” tomorrow.
The Street Profits and B-Fab tried to do a backstage interview but The Bloodline attacked them before they could really get a chance to speak in full. Kevin Owens tried to make the save but WWE officials held him back to clear the scene.
Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark did a taped backstage promo about the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles Match tomorrow.
Nia Jax pinned Mia Yim after the Annihilator Splash in 1:22. Tiffany Stratton was doing guest commentary and she threw water in Yim's face again. Yim then threw Stratton over the announcer’s table and Jax took advantage of the situation.
Kevin Owens did a quick and calm backstage interview. He said The Street Profits condition wasn’t looking too good so he will take on The Bloodline alone again like he’s done before.
Footage was shown of WWE U.S. Champion Logan Paul returning to his house after traveling on other business. His staff told him that “his boy from LA” was here in the pool. It was LA Knight laying on a raft and sipping on a drink in the pool. Paul told him to get out and had him escorted out.
Carmelo Hayes was in the crowd. He did a promo about LA Knight. He said he was going to upset Knight after everyone else by winning the Money In The Bank Match.
Nick Aldis walked up to The Bloodline backstage and told them Tonga and Loa were barred from ringside for the main event. Paul Heyman, who is still allowed at ringside, told Solo Sikoa to remain calm so he doesn’t lose to Owens. He worried a loss could hurt Sikoa’s position within The Bloodline. Sikoa told Heyman if he loses this match he will then come after him for it.
Albya Fyre and Isla Dawn did a brief interview with Jackie Redmond in front of the crowd They were all smiles and treated like baby faces coming home. They said they will win the WWE Women’s Tag Titles tomorrow because they didn’t come home just to lose.
Solo Sikoa (with Paul Heyman) pinned Kevin Owens after the spike and interference from Heyman in 16:27. Owens had Sikoa pinned after a stunner but Heyman put Siko’s leg on the ropes to break up the pin out of view of referee Charles Robinson. Owens went after Heyman at ringside and was going to powerbomb him into the announcer’s table but Sikoa made the save and set up the finish. After the match, Tonga and Loa attacked Owens and Randy Orton made the save to close the TV broadcast.
WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn pinned Ludwig Kaiser after the Helluva Kick in the dark match after live TV was over.
Drew McIntyre pinned Sheamus after the Claymore Kick in the dark match main event.
This was a show that you can most definitely skip if it wasn’t live in your region of the world. Lots of talking as a “go home show” to further set things up for tomorrow.
WWE will be back at the venue tomorrow for the WWE Clash At The Castle: Scotland PLE at 12pm Eastern with the pre-show.
