Detailed WWE SuperShow Summer Tour 6/22/24 Results From Illinois: WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan Defends Against Zoey Stark, Pays Tribute To Dominik Mysterio And Gives A “Hawk Tuah”
WWE SuperShow Summer Tour 2024 houseshow results from Bloomington, Illinois, USA at Grossinger Motors Arena on Saturday, June 22, 2024:
Sarah Schreiber was the ring announcer.
WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn won a 3-Way Title Match over Bronson Reed and Ludwig Kaiser by pinning Kaiser after the Helluva Kick.
WWE World Tag Team Champion The Miz and R-Truth defeated Finn Balor and JD McDonagh by double pin after a pair of Attitude Adjustments. The Judgement Day isolated The Miz in their corner of the ring for a long time. They did the old school heel tag team spot with Balor holding him in an abominable stretch while McDonagh illegally held Balor’s hand from the ring apron to add extra leverage. The referee eventually caught them and kicked their hands away. That allowed The Miz to give Balor a hip toss to get out of the hold.
WWE Women’s Champion Bayley pinned Tiffany Stratton after the Rose Plant in an excellent match with great chemistry. Stratton avoided Bayley coming after her at the start by doing flawless backflips and then acting cool by leaning up against the ropes pretending to look at her “watch.” Bayley was able to take her down with some old school cradles and arm drags. Stratton rammed Bayley face first into a couple of the top turnbuckles and wanted to do it against all four of the turnbuckles. Bayley tried to fight back but Stratton decked her with a forearm shot. Bayley was then able to get some advantage and she ended up ramming Stratton face first into one of the turnbuckles ten times. Later in the match, Stratton hit the running double stomp on Bayley’s chest. Bayley tried to go for the belly to belly suplex but Stratton turned things into a backslide for a near fall. They struggled to get each other into another backslide attempt but Bayley was able to twist out of it and grabbed Stratton for the Rose Plant.
Zoey Stark appeared on screen to hype the WWE World Women’s Title Match against Liv Morgan later. She said she would win the title and Morgan could go pay a visit to Dominik Mysterio.
WWE World Champion Damian Priest pinned Jey Uso clean after the South Of Heaven chokeslam. Priest did untie the turnbuckle pad to distract the referee but the exposed turnbuckle did not come into play with the finish this time. In their previous houseshow matches, Priest rammed Uso into the exposed turnbuckle and then followed up with South of Heaven for the pin. While the referee was distracted in this match by repairing the turnbuckle pad, Uso rolled up Priest with an inside cradle. The referee had his back turned and was late on the count. Priest kicked out, gave Uso a clothesline, and then the finisher for the win.
Gunter pinned Kofi Kingston with a stacked powerbomb. Kingston did knock Gunter down in the match with a couple of dropkicks and had him in a couple of near fall pin attempts.
WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan pinned Zoey Stark after the Oblivion. Morgan came out wearing a seductive styled Dominik Mysterio cutoff t-shirt that said “Dirty Dom” on it. Once again she acted like a baby face compared to how she is on WWE TV. She grabbed a fan’s sign that had a picture of Dominik Mysterio on it on her way out to the ring. She acted like she was kissing his picture and then politely handed the sign back to the fan. On Morgan’s social media, she posted a brief clip of herself backstage from this event. She was being interviewed by someone who asked her how she was feeling. She was all smiles and said she felt good. She held the title belt close and told the interviewer “I just gotta give this a good old hawk tauah spit on this thing and we’re good to go haha!”… She did spit at the belt and then playfully walked away from the camera. The Hawk Tauah Girl has gone viral on social media this week so Morgan was doing a parody of that https://x.com/yaonlylivvonce/status/1804697786291548499?s=61
WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Cody Rhodes pinned Shinsuke Nakamura after the Cross Rhodes. The referee was accidentally bumped after being squashed in a corner of the ring when Nakamura tried to wildly charge at Rhodes who got out of the way in time. Nakamura brought in the title belt and hit Rhodes with it while the referee was down. A second referee ran in to count but Rhodes kicked out. Nakamura wanted to use the belt as a weapon again but the second referee tried to take it away from him. They got into a tug of war over it and Nakamura knocked the referee down. With both referees now down, Rhodes brought a table into the ring and powerbombed Nakamura through it. He then followed up with the Cross Rhodes. The original referee woke up and counted the pin. Rhodes had his ribs taped up the entire match. After the match, he spoke to the crowd and said he had breaking news for them. He said he suffered two broken ribs after getting attacked by The Bloosline’s newest member Jacob Fatu last night on WWE Friday Night SmackDown. He said WWE Officials told him that he could take time off to heal including Sunday in Kalamazoo and this coming Friday for SmackDown at Madison Square Garden. He said MSG was where “the story” first began in the 1970’s. He said his answer was “Hell No!” because he refuses to miss any time. The 1970’s reference was that infamous TV match from MSG in the late 1970’s where Dusty Rhodes held up the championship title belt and put it around his waist as if he won the title. He actually defeated WWWF Champion “Superstar” Billy Graham by Count Out in 15:38 and not by pin or submission. He won the match but not the title based on the “champion’s advantage” rules of pro wrestling.
