MARIGOLD 5/20/24 Debut Show Results: Giulia & Utami Hayashishita vs. Saree & Bozilla, Mai Sakurai & Zayda Steel vs. Nagisa Nozaki & Myla Grace, MIRAI vs. Chiaki
MARIGOLD Dream St “MARIGOLD Fields Forever” first event results from Tokyo, Japan at Korakuen Hall on Monday, May 20, 2024 live on Wrestle Universe https://www.wrestle-universe.com/en
Stewart Fulton and Sonny Gutierrez were the English broadcast team. Hikaru Ohira was the ring announcer. There was of course a Japanese broadcast version of the show too. This was a sold out event with 1,530.
Four trainees were quickly introduced in the ring before the show started.
A video montage and taped interviews with some of the wrestlers was shown and then the roster was introduced one by one to the ring. They were all wearing MARIGOLD logo t-shirts and their names were on screen in English and Japanese. Giulia and Utami Hayashishita came out last. Hayashishita spoke briefly and thanked the fans for the sellout today. She said they were about to see the very best.
Rossy Ogawa was in the ring with the World Title (aka the Red Belt) and the United National Title (aka the White Belt) to show them off to the crowd.
Nanae Takahashi pinned Victoria Yuzuki after the Refrigerator Bomb in a Starting Over Passion Injection Match in 14:04. Yuzuki did manage to bodyslam Takahashi in the match. Takahashi blasted her with a couple of short arm lariats. Yuzuki got her with an inside cradle for a near fall near the end. Takahashi offered to shake hands after the match but Yuzuki slapped her hand out of the way. Takahashi then kicked her to get her out of the ring. They made history as the very first match in MARIGOLD for the record books.
Miku Aono pinned Nao Ishikawa after a Styles Clash in an A vs I Ideological Showdown in 8:55.
MIRAI pinned Chiaki after a lariat in The Power Contest in 12:30. Chiaki looked impressive in the match. She had the lariat scouted and managed to dodge it a few different times. MIRAI went for one but Chiaki caught her and gave her a scoop powerslam. Chiaki also gave her two spears, a few fisherman suplexes, and an Argentinian Crusher. They shook hands after. MIRAI was given a gift of a big bag of caramel corn from an executive of her favorite snack company.
Mai Sakurai and Zayda Steel went to a 15-Minute Time Limit Draw with Nagisa Nozaki and Myla Grace in a World Beauty Showdown. Nozaki is currently half of the SEAdLINNNG Beyond The SEA Tag Team Champions and she came out wearing the title belt. This was the first tag team match in MARIGOLD history.
Amarei Kouki and Chika Goto defeated Natsumi Showzuki and Misa Matsui when Kouki pinned Matsui after her Butterfly diving bodypress finisher in a Actwres New Time Match in 12:28. The announcers said the MARIGOLD Twinstar Tag Team Titles will be coming this summer. Another championship to come will be the Super Fly Title for wrestlers under 55kg.
Saree and Bozilla defeated Giulia and Utami Hayashishita in a Marigold's Strongest Tag Team Legend Match as the company’s first main event when Saree pinned Giulia after a uranage suplex set up by Bozilla’s Moonsault in 27:57. Saree gave Giulia several uranage suplexes before the finish but Hayashita was able to break up the pin before eventually getting tossed from the ring. Bozilla is the daughter of Ulf Herman who was watching on at ringside (he trained her as well). Sonny Gutierrez openly talked about the rumors of Giulia going to WWE NXT. He told everyone to stay tuned and keep watching because things in MARIGOLD are going to be fun. He asked rhetorically, “How long will Giulia be in MARIGOLD? Will she go to NXT and come back to MARIGOLD?” Saree is the current SEAdLINNNG Beyond The SEA Singles Champion and she kept showing off the belt. Bozilla came off like an instant star as the young monster powerhouse. The crowd started chanting her name. After the match, Sareee said today was a tag team match where she and Bozilla were victorious, but the story between her and Giulia is just beginning. She and Giulia agreed to a singles match. Giulia brought in both the Red Belt and the White Belt into the ring. Hayashishita playfully grabbed the belts away from her. Bozilla then yanked away the Red Belt and put it over her shoulder which got a good pop from the crowd. She and Hayashishita then got into a tug of war over the belt before both belts were returned to officials. As Bozilla was leaving the ring, the fans started chanting for her again. She got up on the ropes and posed for them and then she flipped off Giulia and Utami Hayashishita still in the ring.
The next live broadcast show is May 26th at Shinkiba 1st RING in a double header, and then back here at Korakuen Hall on June 11 also live. The June 1, June 2, June 15, and June 16 shows will be on VOD. June 23 will be back live. They’re calling the May 26th shows “MARIGOLD Grand Opening Wars 2024” and that name branding of events goes until at least June 30. They announced a show called MARIGOLD Summer Destiny for July 13.
A video nice played showing marigolds blooming. All of the wrestlers got back in the ring to say goodbye and they thanked the fans as flowers dropped into the ring. Giulia and Utami Hayashishita were the last two left taking photo ops.
They showed a backstage press conference with Rossy Ogawa who was all smiles. He seemed very pleased with how everything went. Fulton and Sonny signed off the air so they weren’t around to translate what Ogawa was saying.
Giulia and Utami Hayashishita spoke to the reporters backstage. They were holding their sore ribs from the match.
